


Business Visa
Note - Please read the General Conditions for applying for a visa to Brazil.
Who is eligible:
- travelers in business trips, except in case of technical assistance;
- media coverage or filming;
- flight/ship crewmembers not holding an international crew card.
Business visa holders are not allowed to engage in any activity under employment contract with a Brazilian organization/corporation.
Individuals involved in installation, service and/or repair of equipment in Brazil do not qualify for a business visa. They require a Temporary Visa V.
In order to qualify for such a visa, the applicant must not receive payment from a Brazilian source.
Requirements:
- One Visa Application Form per applicant, completely filled out online, dated and signed by the passport holder. The application form is found at https://scedv.serpro.gov.br. (You will need to print only the receipt page, with the bar code, and affix the picture and the signature).
- a passport valid for a minimum of (6) six months from the date of intended arrival in Brazil, with at least one blank page available;
- 1 (one) recent 2”x 2” passport-photo, front view, white background. Snapshots and computer pictures are not accepted;
- a copy of a round-trip ticket or a booked itinerary showing travel to and from Brazil, confirming purchase of the ticket and passenger’s name, itinerary, flight number and arrival/departure dates;
- letter (on company’s letterhead) stating employee’s name and title, contact in Brazil, job description to be conducted in Brazil, how long the employee has been working for the company, and assuming full responsibility for the applicant while in Brazil;
- if the applicant is self-employed, an additional letter will be required from his/her bank, containing financial references;
- a copy of the US Alien Resident Card for foreign residents and/or a valid visa or document to return from Brazil to the US or to another country;
- for filming or documentary a special authorization from ANCINE of the Ministry of Culture is required, to be obtained directly by a Brazilian partner;
- the Consulate may request additional information/documentation as deemed necessary.
Consular Fees:
- U.S. passport holders: USD 140.00 (one hundred and forty dollars), charged in reciprocity for an identical fee paid by Brazilian citizens who apply for a business visa to the U.S.;
- Passports of all other countries: USD 60.00 (sixty dollars);
- an additional absent fee of USD 20.00 (twenty dollars) will be charged for any application not submitted in person by the applicant.
No cash, card, personal or company checks are accepted, only US POSTAL SERVICE MONEY ORDER, made out to the Consulate General of Brazil.
Special Notes:
- No visa will be processed by any kind of mail including Airborne Express, DHL, FedEx, UPS, Fax, E-mail, etc.;
- Effective May 28, 2010, Business Visas (VITEM II) issued to American nationals may be valid for up to 10 years;
- visas are good for multiple entries;
- all business visa holders, regardless of nationality or visa expiration date, may only stay in Brazil for up to 90 days a year. An extension may be granted by the Federal Police in Brazil, yet total stay will not exceed 180 days a year.
- the validity of the visa begins on the date of the first entry in Brazil.
The legalization of documents issued in the United States must be done by a Notary Public within the jurisdiction of the Consulate.
