Recognized worldwide as one of the most important research centers in the country, the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) was founded in 1941 with the intent of developing knowledge based on humanistic values. The university now has 19.000 students who come from a variety of religious, ethnic and social backgrounds.
